The Greek Diaries, Sunday the 12th of August 2012

A Good friend of mine, Yiannikos, introduced me to Tsipoura a clean white spirit similar to vodka served in a small bottle then poured over ice. Each time a new round of drinks were ordered the waiter would bring a new type of mezze. Greek liquor licensing states that all alcohol must be served with food so all bars provide a snack of some description, be it chips or nuts, however at this bar we enjoyed fried calamari, moussaka and char-grilled loukanika (spiced sausage) with tzatziki and fresh bread. I managed to get through 3 glasses of tsipoura, with the assistance of the mezze that is!

On Monday night, the 13th of August there was a beach party at Fanari beach. The beach was beautiful, adorned with tiki torches and loud music. I spent the majority of the night sitting on the beach with Yiannikos discussing our lives and sharing stories.

I love the beach at night. The stars are so bright and the neighbouring islands look beautiful with their sparkling lights.
